Who is SweetFrau?

SweetFrau is a quirky alter ego.
She is an avatar, a dream, and an experiment.
She is the idea that resistance is waste of creative energy.
And, that all beings deserve an opportunity to live free and happy lives.
She is the creative force/supporting entity for a series of public art projects.

“If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him…
We must never forget that art is not a form of propaganda; it is a form of truth.”
~ John F. Kennedy

The closest that I have come to describing myself is as an emerging inter-disciplinary conceptual artist. For me, art is a way of exploring and sharing concepts, ideas and emotions. My work explores themes of identity, humanity, attachment, inter-connection, intention, spiritual evolution, thought and emotions. The methods and materials that I work with vary from project to project and depend upon the concept that I am working with.

I have a BFA in Graphic Design from NYIT (The New York Institute of Technology). And, I have worked professionally in publishing, museums/non-profit, investment banking and retail businesses.

I currently freelance as a muse and mentor, while developing my own projects. I enjoy engaging with people and helping them to achieve their goals, using my creativity, imagination and diverse set of skills. Over the past few years, I have worked as  an organizational assistant/strategist, artist's assistant, salesperson, event planner, marketing/design consultant, writer/editor and website developer. In my last position at a local gallery, I built Ikea furniture, constructed store and window displays, set up the POS system, ran the social media accounts, created marketing content and materials, designed signage and shows, and conceptualized and built the website. I really enjoy working in positions with diverse challenges where I can employ my innate problem-solving skills.

On a more personal note, I have a soft spot for forest creatures.
And, I am apt to crying while reading Rilke.
